KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party has gone ballistic over Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement that Pakatan Rakyat will not engage in any more talk with local opposition parties.
SAPP President, Datuk Yong Teck Lee described such the decision as a ‘fatal error’ on the part of PR.
“Oh why, why does Pakatan want to make such a fatal error of ignoring local parties? Over-confidence or greed?
“Sabahans have been cheated for 50 years. Not again. Enough is enough. Bangunlah Orang Sabah! (Wake up Sabahans)” urged Yong.
On Monday, Anwar charged that SAPP and Sabah STAR was untrustworthy and that PR would instead focus on solidifying its agenda in Sabah together with its new allies Pertubuhan Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPPS) and Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS).
In his response Yong said both SAPP and STAR Sabah led by Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan have their own strengths in some areas.
“SAPP has its grassroots network. SAPP only wants Sabah autonomy back as promised in the Malaysia Agreement.
“What is wrong with that? We all can contribute towards Pakatan’s march to Putrajaya,” he added.
The former Chief Minister of Sabah also set the record straight that it was Anwar/PR whose stand has wavered.
“This is for the record and for info of our Malaysian compatriots outside Sabah – for two years, Anwar said local parties have strengths and Pakatan will work with SAPP.
“On April 15, 2012, Anwar even announced his earlier agreement that Sabah-based parties will contest a majority of State seats (and Pakatan will contest most of the MP seats).
“But with Lajim and Wilfred Bumburing later forming PPPS/APS (not joining PKR) in July 2012, Pakatan has become supremely cocky.
“The tone from Pakatan leaders (Tian, Azmin, Thamrin etc…) all changed to one of over confidence. The offer to SAPP is 8 state seats (out of 60),” he said.
Besides this, Yong also noted that Lajim currently still remains an UMNO member.
“He did not resign his UMNO membership and has not been sacked,” he said.
PAKATAN'S CHANCES OF WINNING ELECTIONS IN SABAH ARE VERY LOW.
ReplyDeleteThe fatal error Pakatan is making in Sabah is to split the votes with their proxy parties.
Its strategy is dismally faulty and is indeed motivated by its greed to dominate Sabah.
If PR stayed out and let the real Sabah Opposition parties have a fair contest, it may win the elections in Sabah and deny UMNO of its fixed deposit.
It seems greed has taken over common sense!
It is a real shame. This means the Federal Opposition chances of getting control of Putrid Jaya are very much reduced.
(Putrid Jaya the cesspool of corruption - cost Sabah and Sarawak $20 Billions, the Sabah Sarawak Twin Towers in KL = $10 Billion+. None of these are in Sabah or Sarawak! All paid by our oil money)
