Suluk suspect wanted for murder of ‘wife’

KOTA KINABALU - Police have begun a manhunt for a Suluk male to assist them in investigations into the murder of a young local woman at a two-storey house Jalan Donald, Kampung Likas early Thursday morning.

The man, identified as Nur Amin Said, 33, is advised to surrender himself at the nearest police station, while members of the public who knows of his whereabouts, are urged to contact the Investigating Officer, ASP Yusof Othman at 012-8191313.

Kota Kinabalu district police chief, ACP Jauteh Dikun said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The victim, Juselina Rizal, 21, was found dead by her housemate with stab wounds to the lower back at around 9am on Thursday.

Her body, clad in pyjamas, was lying in a mattress soaked with blood.

It is learnt that the victim had a heated argument with Nur Amin who is believed to be her husband, who works as a shopping mall security guard.

Others who lived in the same house told police that they did hear two persons arguing and that there was a scream from the woman at about 4.00am that morning but they thought it was a normal argument between the husband and wife.

Meanwhile, 11 people, three of them women, and all aged between 22 and 45 were arrested in connection with a break-in at a businessman’s house at Jalan Kolam on July 16.

Jauteh said police also recovered several stolen items including a Honda car, watches, a home-made gun, and foreign currency.

The value of the recovered property is said to be estimated at about RM300,000 of which there were 10 notes of S$10,000 denomination each
In another case, police have detained three youths aged between 19 – 23 in connection with the thefts of seven motorcycles valued at RM29,000.

Jauteh also disclosed that police have confiscated 248 modified computer sets valued at RM198,000 from 10 illegal cyber premises during several raids here recently.

He said the raids which were made between July 1 and July 25, also saw 23 people, aged between 19 and 28, being detained for being involved in the illegal gambling.

“The raids were made around the city centre and in Menggatal where police confiscated 248 modified computer sets used for illegal cyber gambling.

“Police also detained 23 people who comprises of the caretakers and patrons of the illegal cyber café and confiscated about RM4,283,” he said.

Jauteh added all those detained had been remanded to assist police in their investigation under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

Jauteh said police would intensify their efforts to curb illegal cyber gambling activities around the state capital and called for the public’s cooperation to help fight illegal activities around their areas.

He also thanked the public for providing information to the police and looked forward to such cooperation in the future.
