Bouncer shot near Penang dance club

Seven-bullet barrage fired at man outside Penang night club, only one finds mark

GEORGE TOWN: A 43-year-old man, believed to be the chief bouncer of a dance club, was shot at seven times in front of the entrance to entertainment outlets in a mall in Jalan Datuk Keramat here.

Fortunately for the victim, only a single bullet from the found the target, hitting him in the left thigh.

Sources said that the chief bouncer was talking to a man at the open car park who then shot him as he headed towards the entertainment outlets.

He then rushed limping to one of the dance clubs to seek help from friends.

He was rushed to the Penang Hospital and is now in a stable condition.

The victim, known only as Too Pek, was said to be one of the top guns of a notorious triad in the state.

Partygoers to the dance clubs said they heard sounds similar to that of firecrackers.

Police have since picked up two cleaners, both foreigners, at the scene who allegedly tried to wipe out the evidence.

Police also recovered seven bullet casings.

A police spokesperson said they were reviewing the CCTV footage taken at the scene.
