Hiew’s party rivals report him for ‘insubordination’

KOTA KINABALU - DAP Luyang Assemblyman Dr Hiew King Cheu has been slapped with a show cause letter by the Party’s Disciplinary Committee, for alleged ‘insubordination’.

He has been told to explain as to why he defied the Party’s decision of supporting Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Wilfred Bumburing, instead of Klias Assemblyman Datuk Lajim Hj Ukin, as the Opposition Chief for the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.

This was following an official complaint lodged against him over his alleged ‘insubordination’, last week. The said letter of complaint was signed by four of his party colleagues, who are themselves the elected representatives of Sabah.

It was reliably learnt that this was a continuation of the plot to end his political career, after his opponents within the party failed to eliminate him in the last general election, by convincing the Party central leadership to remove him from Kota Kinabalu parliamentary constituency and fielded him in the Luyang state constituency, which was perceived to be unfavourable to him.

Nonetheless, thanks to the overwhelming support for the Pakatan Rakyat, he managed to pull through by polling 11,213 votes in the four-corner fight against candidates from Barisan Nasional/MCA (Datuk Agnes Shim), Melanie Chia (SAPP), and Jafery B. Jomion (STAR).

A close aide of Hiew said the latter was rather furious with the latest attempt by his opponents to remove him from the Party. The same group was said to be responsible for his removal as Sabah DAP chairman, in the party election, back in 2010.

“He (Hiew) is now preparing to answer to the show cause letter,” said the close aide.
