Sabah should not be scared to seek full autonomy

KOTA KINABALU - Sabahans should not be scared to ask for full autonomy because Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had already given his assurance that Sabah and Sarawak will be given autonomy, said Progressive Institute of Public Policy Analysis (PiPPA) Chairman Amde Sidik.

Amde said during the announcement made by Najib at Padang Merdeka in Kuching two weeks ago, Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem had proposed 10 areas to be fully controlled by the State, including education.

Amde said this in his keynote address at the Forum Bicara 'Masa Depan Economic Sabah' held at Tang Dynasty Kota Kinabalu, attended by about 200 people, organised by PIPPA, on Saturday.

Three speakers, economist Dr Jeremiah V Dorsey, lawyer Peter Marajin and former teacher Jalibin Paidi gave talks on economic issues, Borneonisation and the issue of Merdeka.

Amde emphasised on the need of young educated Sabahans to be conscientious of what is happening in the country.

MThe scenario at the national capital doesn^ look rosy, especially the non-stop talking about race and religion.

"Most astonishingly the experts and ulamak alike are silent when it comes to demonstrations and counter-demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur.

“That ugly scene should not happen in Sabah at all,” he said.
