PKR MP: 'Sexy attire' of athletes may lead to illicit sex

A PKR lawmaker today raised concern that the “sexy dressing” of participants in Sukma Games and Fit Malaysia may lead to illicit sex (zina).

But Youth and Sports Ministry Khairy Jamaluddin said there is no evidence that the sports programms lead to fornication.

"The ministry has conducted many sport programmes - Sukma and Fit Malaysia- which was received well…

"There is much for you to share in this world, but what I am worried about is your share in the afterlife (Saya cuma bimbang saham menteri akhirat)," he said.

"Based on what appears to be the startling sexy dressing (of participants), we are concerned that might happened after that...due to mixing (of the athletes). I am asking the minister to look into this," Mohamad Imran Abdul Hamid (PKR-Lumut) said.

He was debating the 2016 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Khairy said there is no proven cases of fornication at sports programmes but the ministry takes note of the complaint.

This comes after national gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi was widely criticised for not observing the Muslim code of modesty (aurat) when she wore a leotard during the Sea Games in June.
