Maslan, a minister who's confused between posts and jobs

KUALA LUMPUR - On Facebook yesterday, local stand-up comedian Harith Iskandar took a dig at deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan's “three jobs” statement, saying a government servant’s multiple posts are not equivalent to having more than one job.

Writing on his Facebook fan page yesterday, Harith said that he is a comedian, emcee, writer, actor, coach and director and it does not mean he has six jobs.

“It means I do 6 different things. In the context of a government servant you could say I hold 6 different posts,” Harith explained.

“A job is something you do every day all day. So for a person to have TWO jobs that would mean they work minimum 2 x 8 hour shifts a day. That’s 16 working hours. A day,” he reiterated.

The Facebook post has since received commendation from netizens, racking up over 46,500 likes and receiving nearly 14,000 shares at press time.

In trying to defend his stance, Ahmad tweeted yesterday that he holds three jobs, as Pontian MP, deputy international trade and industry minister and Umno information chief after drawing strong criticism for his recent comments that Malaysians should hold two jobs to cope with the rising cost of living.
