Ku Li: Msians having trouble finding one job, let alone two

KUALA LUMPUR - Many Malaysians are already struggling to find gainful employment, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah pointed out today after deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan reportedly said there was nothing wrong with holding down two jobs to cope with rising costs.

When commenting on Ahmad’s Twitter comments last weekend, the Gua Musang MP popularly known as “Ku Li” added that even he does not have a job, something he said he shares in common with many Malaysians.

"I also don't have a job. Normally, you have a job and say that you find the earnings is not enough, you find another job to increase your income.

"The problem we face now is that, there are no job opportunities at all," Ku Li told reporters after a Perkasa function today.

The outspoken lawmaker refused to comment further, however, telling reporters to direct their questions at Ahmad instead.

He later remarked that some lawmakers make some comments merely to feel good about themselves.

"The implications of it, I cannot comment on but maybe they feel good by saying such things," he said.

Ahmad sparked backlash when he reportedly said Saturday that it was not wrong to hold two jobs in Malaysia to address the rising cost of living.

He sought to defend himself from the criticism yesterday by saying he held three jobs, and insisted that he meant Malaysians could be entrepreneurial to earn side income.

The deputy prime minister has since come under heavy criticism from multiple sources including members of the public, comedians and political rivals. - Malaymail
