MALACCA - Suspended DAP lawmaker Goh Leong San is feeling more relaxed siting as an independent assemblyman in the Malacca legislative assembly.
Goh, who is a five-term assemblyman, told the assembly that he has "peace of mind" now as an independent representative.
"I am away from all power and greed and happier now," he told the assembly.
Goh who is Duyung state assemblyman was suspended by DAP for a year beginning Feb 7.
The party also suspended Kota Melaka Member of Parliament Sim Tong Him on the same day.
Both were suspended by DAP’s disciplinary committee for smearing the name of the party following a lawsuit against a fellow party member.
Goh later applied to assembly speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad to beseated as an independent assemblyman when the proceeding begun on Monday.
Later at the foyer of the assembly, Goh said he has no qualms being seated as an independent.
He said he could continue championing issues for his constituents as an independent member of the assembly.
He also said that it was his right to apply to the speaker to be seated as an independent assemblyman in the assembly.
"I have been long in politics and know what is good and bad, who are friends and foes," he added.
