Police have confirmed that a viral video of a schoolboy being violently beaten up by one of his classmates was recorded at a religious school in Putatan, Sabah.
A report quoted state police commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun confirming the incident.
He said the victim’s family had lodged a police report at the Penampang police headquarters.
“We are investigating the case, and looking for several pupils from the school,” he was quoted as saying Tuesday, declining to elaborate further.
The two-and-a-half-minute video, which went viral on Monday night, shows the bully violently assaulting the victim while their classmates look on in the background.
The two boys are seen facing off in the middle of a makeshift ring fashioned from tables and chairs, with the victim being pushed to the floor several times.
The bully threw punches, kicks, slaps, hurled chairs, and even performed a choke-hold on the victim, who did not attempt to fight back.
