Taiwanese actress Celia Chang, who was seen together with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s son Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, is planning to take legal action after she received intimidating comments on her social media pages, the country’s Apple Daily newspaper reported.
It said Chang was upset at the “insulting, intimidating and bullying comments on her social media pages”.
Some of those who posted comments even picked on her Vietnamese lineage and called her “Vietnamese Chicken” – a derogatory term which means prostitute in Chinese.
Malaysians have flooded her Facebook page with comments asking her to stay away from Mohd Nazifuddin.
Chang, who acted in TV mini-series Top Secret last year, refused to comment when Apple Daily asked her whether she would continue her relationship with Mohd Nazifuddin.
“I have no idea,” she said.
Meanwhile, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang questioned Mohd Nazifuddin’s agenda on his one-day trip to Taiwan the day after his father was charged in court.
“Very few would believe that the whole purpose of Nazifuddin’s quick one-day trip to Taiwan was just to have a rendezvous of wine and food with Celia,” Lim said.
On Friday, Apple Daily carried a news report on Chang and Mohd Nazifuddin together in Taipei’s Xinyi district.
A representative from Chang’s management agency released a statement saying that the actress did not receive any money or gifts from Mohd Nazifuddin.
Their outing, a day after Najib was released on bail following his arrest on Tuesday for his role in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (IMDB) scandal, has drawn criticism from Malaysians.
Apple Daily earlier reported that the two were seen sharing two bottles of red wine in a restaurant before making a trip to a spa.
They then enjoyed a candlelight dinner, went to a pub for two hours and then took a taxi to a hotel.
Chang later claimed that they were just drinking at a bar in the hotel where Mohd Nazifuddin was staying. She took a cab home after that and did not spend the night with him.
She also strongly denied that they had kissed, saying it was just a way of saying goodbye.
Apple Daily said Mohd Nazifuddin had begun pursuing Chang a year ago, but she had a boyfriend and the courtship was not too direct.
It was only recently when Chang was single again that he began pursuing her in earnest, but their status was still ambiguous and the two were not an official couple.
