PETALING JAYA - Siti Kasim has slammed the PPBM Youth chief for saying the wing will reject Malaysia’s ratification of a United Nations convention against discrimination if it weakens or erodes certain constitutional rights under Article 153, which gives preference to Bumiputeras.
In a Facebook post, the lawyer-activist said that Parliament has no use for such “idiots”.
Siti also accused Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman of adopting such a stance to gain political mileage from “what he thinks (are) his Malay constituents”.
But the Muar MP, she argued, forgot that non-Malays also voted for him too.
he then called for people to reject “racist and divisive politicians”.
“Remember these people… next GE (general election), reject politicians like this. Totally and absolutely!” she wrote.
Earlier today, Syed Saddiq said the wing would oppose Malaysia’s ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) if it also weakens or erodes the monarchy, the position of Islam or any other rights enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
The youth and sports minister said the stand was based on the consensus reached by Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties to champion the progress of the people and the country through existing policies and according to provisions in the constitution.
Last year, Siti hit out at Syed Saddiq over an online petition by the party’s Selangor youth wing objecting to Oktoberfest in the country.
FMT has contacted Syed Saddiq for comment and is awaiting his reply.
