Christians seething in silence

Anti-Semitism in Malaysia has pushed Christians to a corner and put their leaders in Pakatan Rakyat and in Barisan Nasional in a fix.

While there is now a freewheeling attack against Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim for his alleged support of Israel, many Malaysian leaders, either in the Barisan Nasional or in the opposition, are not aware that the strong anti-Semitism in Malaysia is putting the Malaysian Christians in an awkward position.

If we are not happy with our car, we fix it or change to a better model. If we are dissatisfied with our clothing, we change tailors or buy another dress. If the restaurant food which is served is rubbish, we demand a refund or send it back to the kitchen. Some of us are even prepared to marry another woman if the current one(s) are unsatisfactory. So why not political parties?

Ibrahim Ali an idiot or agent?

Perkasa or Ibrahim Ali, a so-called NGO, commonly seen as sponsored by Umno, on the pretext of fighting for 'Malay rights' has now step up its move to thwart Bersih 2.0's rally scheduled to be held on 9th July 2011.

To any right thinking Malaysian, Perkasa strong objection and waging war against Bersih 2.0 has finally run awry in their original direction, irrelevant to their so-called 'cause'.

Bersih's rally is just about justice, free and fair elections for Malaysia...what has this got to do with Perkasa...unless Perkasa is an agent of Umno.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will no longer be a Barisan Nasional (BN) ‘fixed deposit’ after the coming 13th General Election, said Datuk Yong Teck Lee, President of the opposition Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

He said such a notion is based on the growing resentment and dissatisfaction among the majority of the population over present government, especially citing the constant indiscriminate hike in prices of essential consumer items, besides many imbalances in policies affecting Sabah and Sarawak. This includes the fact that prices of goods and prices in Sabah are currently still much higher, as compared to Peninsular Malaysia.

Another twist emerged by Utusan Malaysia, by sensationalizing on the issue that unsubstantiated with facts; the Christian leaders were conspiring to replace Islam as the official religion and install a Christian Prime Minister. It is incomprehensible when Islam is constitutionally the official religion of the nation.

Unfortunately, this deluge of lies was further dramatised by Datuk Ibrahim Ali, by waging a crusade against Christianity. The result of Sarawak election is sending a strong message to make UMNO in a panic mode. It will be the likely trend to continue in the coming GE 13. Just make a guess if this incident happens by coincident or is it crafted to destroy DAP directly and indirectly PKR and PAS by begging for the Malays to rally behind UMNO.

Then they went on to mock the Royalty, by conveniently inserting the word ‘Agong’, saying that the Agong’s consent is needed to allow the Christians to install a Christian Prime Minister. Really, that has got to be biggest joke of the 21st century. And to think that a respectable newspaper like Utusan couldn’t see through the charade and though it worthy to carry the story in its headline news is simply amazing.

KOTA KINABALU: A veteran political activist has taken Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to task for keep on harping on her party's stand that there should be only a one-to-one fight with the ruling Barisan Nasional in Sabah in the coming general election.

Fredoline Edwin Lojinki, who served in the now-defunct UNKO in the 1960s, said that PKR was too preoccupied with this one-to-one fight for its own selfishness of only wanting to enhance its chance to be in Putrajaya, and for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be the Prime Minister.

Archbishop slams 'irresponsible, baseless, provocative' reporting

Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Murphy Nicholas Pakiam, has slammed reports alleging a conspiracy to turn the country into a Christian state.

Describing the reports as “irresponsible, baseless and provocative”, Pakiam demanded that the authorities take action against what it said were quarters that seek to threaten the harmonious, multi-cultural and multi-religious make-up of the country.

A “thorough investigation” into the matter should be made to determine the source of these “insidious, provocative and malicious lies” and take action against those behind it, said Pakiam in a statement.

Sarawak Assembly to be dissolved

Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud said that he will be dissolving the Sarawak assembly on Monday, paving the way for the state election within 60 days.

Taib said that the notice of dissolution was sent to the governor Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng on Thursday.

“I have informed him about the state elections,” he told reporters at the Kuching International Airport in the presence of Prime Minister Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

It would be an extra ordinary political relief for Sarawakians if just before announcing the dissolution of Sarawak State Assembly as predicated on Monday, Taib Mahmud the Chief Minister of Sarawak resigns from politic. I’m just taking a cue from what Najib said that he has already talked about retirement plan for Taib?

If that happens this could be the long waited break, the change in political environment from the control of one iron fist Ketua Menteri, to perhaps a liberal and democratize politics, reminiscence of Mustapha’s era in Sabah in 80s

In another scenario though the change of wind may be for Sarawak State BN. BN may be able to wrist comfortably it seats because local may prefer local BN, as opposed to imported political parties. They have learnt a few things from Sabah’s experience, as well the chaos they have with Peninsular based parties.
