Gaddafi executed by Rebels

RUTHLESS tyrant Colonel Muammar Gaddafi lies dead — after the 270 victims of the Lockerbie bombing he orchestrated were finally avenged.

The Libyan Mad Dog, 69, was shot in the head by rebels after being wounded in a Nato air strike on a convoy fleeing his home city Sirte.

Gaddafi, who also masterminded the London murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher and supplied the IRA with Semtex, clambered from debris and tried to hide in a drainage pipe.

But rebels seized him and dragged him around while still alive before he was executed.

Gaddafi's death ended 42 years of iron-fisted rule.

It was a triumph for the rebels who led the eight-month uprising against him — and the Nato forces led by Britain and France who backed them.

It was also the most significant advance in the "Arab Spring" revolts across North Africa and the Middle East.

Millions of Libyans wept with joy as news spread.

And here, Lockerbie's Tory MP David Mundell said: "I won't shed tears over Gaddafi's death."

Gaddafi tried to flee his Sirte hideaway in a convoy of 80 vehicles as rebel forces were about to take the city.

But it was targeted by a missile fired by a US drone before being attacked by French jets. RAF Tornados led the reconnaissance mission.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was seen looking astonished in Afghanistan's capital Kabul as she learned on a mobile phone that Gaddafi had been cornered.

Last night Gordon Edwards, 48, injured with wife Liz in the IRA's Warrington bombing in 1993, said: "I'd rather have seen Gaddafi put on trial for supplying Semtex."

Ex-university lecturer Ahmed Bagi, 60 — driven out of Libya and living in Manchester — said: "I'm thrilled. Gaddafi's actions were those of the Devil."

  7. Sad, he used to be a good leader once, but being too long in the throne has done something to his head.

  9. Kalau Gaddafi menyerahkan kerajaan kepada orang lain rasanya Gaddafi boleh membetulkan keadaan tanpa ada peperangan.
