Musa: Money in Zurish was not only his but UMNO

FMT Staff

Sabah Chief Minister Musa has claimed that a large part of his multi-million fortune held in foreign accounts is not privately owned by him.

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR wants Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to clarify “leaked” investigation papers that a Swiss bank account linked to Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman contains US$100 million belonging to Umno.

Musa allegedly told Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers that the money in question traced to a bank in Zurich, Switzerland and under investigation by banking and criminal investigation agencies overseas was not his but Umno’s, said a senior PKR official.

PKR vice president Tian Chua who is also MP for Batu, said Najib must explain Musa’s alleged statement linking Umno and therefore the government to the hitherto secret party slush fund.

The money is part of a large sum being traced by international investigative reporters including of online media, Sarawak Report, who published details of transactions connecting Musa, Sabah businessman Michael Chia as well as many in Malaysian and Swiss banking in questionable financial deals crisscrossing several countries.

When Chia was caught with S$16 million cash in Hong Kong few years ago, he reportedly told the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) that the money belonged to Musa.

Musa however immediately denied knowing Chia and by inference anything about the money.

However pictures of them together and details of transactions including payments to Musa’s two sons in Australia were then exposed by the online media raising further questions about the matter.

This prompted more information being exposed by authorities in Zurich, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

According to Tian Chua, on June 15, PKR deputy secretary general Darell Leiking, parliamentarian Sivarasa Rasiah and he held a press conference in the Parliament House questioning the government’s inaction despite detailed information becoming public of a money laundering operation that has implicated Musa.

“On June 21, I received a reply from the prime minister on the status of the investigation of corruption allegations against Musa following the arrest of Michael Chia in Hong Kong.

“The answer from PM stated that MACC had provided full cooperation with Hong Kong ICAC and had completed the investigation. Presently the file is on the table of Attorney-General but so far no action has been taken,” he said.

Funds ‘held in trust’

Tian Chua said the case received new attention when NGO activist Prof Monika Roth filed a suit against Swiss UBS Bank linking the bank with the money laundering operations in Sabah.

However, once again, there was total silence from the Malaysian government, he said.

“A few days ago, I received a mysterious phone call from an unknown person who claimed that he was a staff member of MACC.

“He revealed that the MACC had initiated a new investigation on Musa where he was interviewed by several MACC officers on a date not told to me.

“Musa defended his actions and told the MACC officers to “check their facts with the prime minister.”

“Musa claimed that a large part of his multi-million fortune held in foreign currency accounts overseas was not privately owned by him.

“Instead it was held in trust on behalf of Umno. Now the public is eager to know whether this is true, and if the PM is aware of this.

“As the phone call was confidential and I had no means to verify the information, I hereby call upon the PM to step forward to clarify whether the MACC had initiated a new investigation on Musa.

“I also call on (Attorney-General) Abdul Gani Patail to step aside vis-a-vis the investigation related to Musa as it is clear that the AG is unable to convince the public of his impartiality,” said Tian Chua.

Alleged irregularities in two forms, namely involving the purchase of 'curious' on Talam assets amounted to RM676 million and the 'mystery' to any provision of RM392 million approved in 2009 to settle the debt the company incurred. It is clear that this PKR Party is a party that was corrupt. The longer they ruled in the state this, it is possible the state will 'bankrupt'.

What is evident is that the Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, who was well experienced in the corporate world before he entered politics, has been able to take Sabah's financial status to greater heights and bring rapid development to the State.

I'm not a political savvy person but what I can conclude from the above article is that, the oppositions are bombarding the CM for no apparent reasons. Hey, I'm quite happy to say about Anwar cheated on our trust and money more on this thing. Why? Because it made sense. Let see what Mahathir has done to us. Keep harping on the nonsense issues, it's just a waste of time.

It is not relevant to say that Najib is actually linked with CM over that sum of money. Come on la Tian Chua, you better just protect your aisle in Selangor. Selangor is getting down dirty now and yeah for both Lims', you guys don't have to put lots of efforts in Sabah, thank you. Penang is enough in trouble, as well.

Why do you so concerned about KKIP, kit siang? That's not even your territory. KKIP is much more advanced, kudos to all confident investors. Sabah is prospering now, and keep growing for the rest of lives. And saying too much about our parking spaces, ICs, illegals and all those bullshits that you think, are bothering you. Sorry, Sabah is neither Penang nor Selangor. Leave us alone.

Last but not least, Musa is smart and decent enough to determine what's the best for Sabah. Viva Sabah!

The MCA Youth has asked the Selangor Government to spell out details regarding a deal on a debt-recovery exercise involving more than RM1 billion, with a public-listed company.

MCA Young Professionals Bureau chief Chua Tee Yong said in 2009, the Selangor state assembly approved RM392 million to Menteri Besar Incorporated to buy the debts of the company owing to the state government.

He said RM277 million was owed to Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd and Universiti Industri Selangor (Unisel) but Unisel did not receive any of the money.

If Unisel had received, then it need not have to raise RM30 million to help its students, claimed Chus

The deputy minister of agriculture and agro-based industries also claimed that RM115 million which was owed to Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) by the state government was still not paid, according to KHSB's annual report.

Chua alleged that the state government purchased RM676 million worth of assets from the public-listed company and this enabled the company concerned to migrate from being PN17 company. A PN17 status company is regarded as one which has defaulted in its loan repayments.

He asserted that instead of recovering RM392 million debt, the state government of Selangor bought up an additional RM284 million worth of assets. This is the clear case of a bail-out where it (state government) used the people's money to help the company.

In a recent development in this matter, the Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the PKR-led state government would sue the MCA over the party's allegation pertaining to a RM1-billion deal involving Talam Corporation; but failed to comment on this matter.

On a seperate matter, the reclassification in status of the PKNS field in Kelana Jaya should be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as the SS7 land which was previously classified as recreational land had suddenly been classified as commercial land, thus giving rise to the suspicion of power abuse.

It was understood that the issue came to light when the Selangor Economic Development Corporation (PKNS) had applied to develop the sports complex in SS7 and to redevelop it into a mixed-development project consisting of a shopping centre and high-rise apartments. Due to the many protest, an investigation was conducted which then revealed that there were actually 3 different local plans of the area: One version which was approved by the Selangor state assembly, and the other two different versions by the Selangor Town and Rural Planning Department and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

While Selangor’s Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) had held a hearing on the subject, they had only succeeded in clarifying that there were 3 different versions of the local plan in existence, but had failed to clarify who was responsible for reclassifying the land as commercial land from recreational land.

It is as clear as day that the the opposition pact is practising double standards: they held the belief that only they were allowed to raise issues. On the otehr hand, when the gun is pointed at them, they would throw all kinds of 'conspiracy theories' use threat of legal action in an attempt to evade answering questions as well as unfavourable rumours circulating against them.

before you ask Najib to explain about Musa Statement, why don't you explain your involvement in USD10 million kickback from a developer Azam & Azam Sdn Bhd (AASB) against the Selangor state Government for the construction of the new Selayang Market??

based on the RPK report, you (Tian Chua) agreed to help on condition AASB pay up for an election fund of US$10 million. It was an exorbitant take-it-or-leave-it demand that double up the claim to about RM70 million.

RPK said, You and William Leong did meet the developers to squeeze some money from them under the excuse of ‘election funds’. is it true?? so please explain about it..

This allegation did not come from UMNO or any authority that could be linked back to UMNO but from one pro opposition writer against an opposition leader.

    1. Jeffrey Kitingan
    2. Wencelous Damit Undikai
    3. Albinus Yudah
    4. Benedict Topin
    5. Vincent Chung
    6. Abdul Rahman Ahma
    7. Ariffin Hj. Hamid
    8. Maximus Ongkili*

Tapi Datuk Maximus Ongkili dilepaskan awal dua bulan selepas ditahan.

  59. Its all about the money money...who's money? We all don't know whether the money are there or not, and everybody kind off saying that the money is Datuk Musa's Money, but how many percent they sure about it? 100% 50% 20%.... ??? Still spinning my head to find the answer..because we don't have a rigid information about the rising issue.

Instead of wasting time talking about something that you are not sure about it Why not we talk about his achievement?? I am sure you just can't deny that Sabah is now better than 20 years ago. We have go through to the transformation under Datuk Musa's leadership. Lets see what has he done for us, below are some info that i get by way of my research on him.

    For Info:
-In 2001, there were just little over RM100 Million in the state coffers but now we have RM3billion.
-Sabah has received investment of RM23.9 billion since the start of the 10th Malaysia Plan in 2011 until the first quarter of this year. RM12.4 billion or 53 per cent was domestic investment and the remaining RM11.4 billion from overseas. there were 31 Entry Point Projects (EPPs) identified for implementation in Sabah, the EPPs involved investment in the oil and gas sector of RM18.72 billion. And, the Gross National Income (GNI) for the country is expected to be RM12.8 billion, while providing about 23,119 jobs. the Beluran and Kemabong Agropolitan Project, as well as the Sabah Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) project at Lahad Datu and Sandakan with an investment of RM22.485 billion. The GNI to be adduced from the project is RM8.766 billion and the oil palm sector will provide about 12,201 jobs. The manufacturing and logistics sector will also witness the setting up of the Main Line Operator Set Up project in the Sepanggar Investment and the KKIP project and the GNI from this is expected to be RM1.939 billion, with about 23,471 jobs to be offered. Other than the economic boots the tourism sector also showing an improvement. Tourist arrivals in Sabah for the first five months this year went up 3.7 per cent in comparison to the same period last year.

How can we achieved those things if Datuk Musa busy with something else other that to handle the State's politic, economic and social? We would be not having all the achievement if Datuk Musa doing something else only for himself. I dare to say that if he really don't care about the general populace, we would never see ourself as what we are today. I know it's not easy to make everything fine but at least he tried hard to make everyone happy. I am sure lots of people out there still believe in his ability as a leader. If not why is he still maintain the post as Sabah CM until today? People out there can say anything they want, especially making a rumour, because of what? They have a hidden agenda for their own interest. Some goes to the opposition parties, they trying hard to keep on finding points to make sure people change the mind to vote for them but one thing we must know, they only want to be in power. They are not even better that us because we are all human and we do have our own weakness. So, why not we fix our weakness other than to change our believe to the opposition party? We should not influenced by others. God bless Sabahans!
