PUTATAN, October 30, 2012: The resident of Taman Pasir Putih was complaining to Datuk Richard Yong that the metal cover of the manhole had gone missing for a few months and quite a few cars including a taxi had fallen victims to the trap.
Datuk Richard, secretary general of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and chairman of SAPP CLC for Tanjung Aru then visited the site together with party members, Fong Chiew Loong and Bahari Aship.
The resident told Richard that the council sent a contractor to repair the damaged manhole once with concrete cover but it did not last.
Richard lamented that the council should be proactive in handling this sort of problem.
Richard said, "The trouble is no one would expect to encounter a hole big enough for whole car tyre to be in the middle of the road."
"Pot holes are everywhere so we are not surprised but it will be a shock of your life when one side of your car all of a sudden fell into a big hole.
"The fact that the council had been informed about the matter but never really solve the problem is extremely disappointing and I hope they will immediately do something after seeing this news in the newspaper.
"Apart from the shock, the inconveniences, who is going to compensate the cost of the damages?" Richard questioned.
"The authority should not wait any longer to avoid more untoward incidences from happening," said Richard.
