15 foreigners nabbed in operation in Semporna

SEMPORNA: The Semporna Marine Police Force (PPM) foiled an attempt by 15 foreigners, including 11 women, from illegally entering the country using a pump boat on Thursday.

Sabah PPM acting commander DSP Husaini Zainal Abidin said all the foreigners were aged between 20 and 30 years old and were arrested in the Labuan Haji waters area at about 12.30 am after the boat was inspected by PPM personnel.

“During an operation by PSC 9 patrol boat with five members in the Labuan Haji waters, the marine police bumped into a pumpboat heading for Semporna.

“A check on the boat found that the passengers, comprising 11 women aged between 20 and 33, with four men including two skippers aged between 23 and 38, had no travel documents,” he said in a statement here today.

He said initial investigations found that all the foreigners were from a neighboring country and tried to enter Sabah illegally. They were now detained at the Semporna police station for further investigation.
