A full report of the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah will be presented to Yang di-Pertuan Agong on May 21.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim said the first presentation was made possible after several delays in hearing of the case due to the Lahad Datu intrusion.
"The report will be presented after obtaining mutual and comprehensive views from all parties involved. This is also to show the government's seriousness and to prove that there will be no compromise in handling the issue," he said when replying a supplementary question from Senator Lucas Umbul in Dewan Negara yesterday.
The establishment of the RCI was announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in June last year, and was given six months to complete the investigation and a full report plus recommendations to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong be submitted.
The submission deadline had expired on March 20 but extended to May 21, giving more time to the commission to conduct a detailed and thorough study on the case.
"What is imperative is that the investigation was not only focussing on one particular race, region or district in Sabah," he said.
The five-man RCI panel led by former Sabah and Sarawak Chief Judge Steve Shim Lip Kiong and its establishment was aimed at investigating an influx of illegal immigrants into Sabah.
