24 dead, 160,000 homeless in flooding in Malaysia and Thailand

Malaysia and Thailand are experiencing the worst flooding in a decade or more. At least 24 have been killed and nearly 160,000 have been displaced since mid-December, reported Reuters.

In Malaysia, authorities said more rain is expected. Reuters reported of 10 fatalities in Malaysia, five were recorded in the state of Kelantan, one of the worst-hit areas that has been cut off from electricity for days. Fourteen people are reported dead in southern Thailand.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who recently came under fire after he was seen playing golf with President Obama in Hawaii, cut his holiday short to tour some of the worst-hit areas.
