Fake Papagomo nabbed, IGP denies 'monkey' chat

Facebook page owner 'Papagomo Original', who accused Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar of soliciting a bribe over the clashes at Low Yat Plaza, has been arrested.

"Congratulations to Crime Investigation Department D5 for successfully nabbing Papagomo Original (Facebook page owner) in Perak," confirmed Khalid in his Twitter.

Earlier, he also denied communicating with 'Papagomo Original'.

"I did not WhatsApp with him (Papagomo Original). It's slander.

"I deny I had WhatsApp with this person (Papagomo Original) or beruk (monkey)," Khalid told reporters in Shah Alam this morning.

He also revealed that a lawyer for pro-Umno blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (photo), who operates the authentic Papagomo blog, had filed a police report denying his client’s link with the "Papagomo Original" page.

Wan Muhammad was among three individuals investigated under the Sedition Act in connection with the riot outside Plaza Low Yat.

He was arrested by police on July 14. The "Papagomo Original" page was created the day after.

On July 18, a day after the blogger was released, the "Papagomo Original" page uploaded a purported screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation that accused the IGP of soliciting a bribe of RM20,000 to "settle" the matter.

This post was subsequently removed and replaced with another screenshot, purportedly depicting Wan Muhammad Azri apologising to the IGP.
