Sarawak Report to sue minister, NST for libel

KUALA LUMPUR - Sarawak Report said it was mulling legal actions against an Umno minister and pro-government New Straits Times for the "malicious" falsehoods they had promoted to destroy its credibility.

Sarawak Report pointed out in a statement that it was frustrated by the accusation of urban well-being, housing and local government minister cum BN communication and strategy director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan that its founder Clare Rewcastle Brown was a "scum" and that its reports had been "blatant lies."

"Mr Dahlan has not produced a single shred of evidence that would lead anyone to believe the ravings of the mentally unbalanced bankrupt Lester Melanyi.

"We therefore accuse him of criminal libel motivated by malicious intent."

Melanyi earlier produced a "confession" video claiming that Sarawak Report had colluded with the opposition to falsify documents against 1MDB and prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
