Anonymous hackers threatens "internet warfare" against Najib if he does not resign

A video with a chilling threat against Prime Minister Najib Razak went viral today declaring a “duel and challenge” with him and calling for him to step down from office immediately.

In the video, Anonymous Malaysia, which claims to be part of the international hacking syndicate Anonymous, gave warning of “internet warfare” against Najib from 6pm to 11pm on August 29 and 30, promising that it would be the country’s “most historic internet crash” ever.

“The operation name is Bersih 4.0,” it said. “Target attack is 1MDB, Najib Razak’s web portal, Malaysia SPRM, Royal Police Malaysia (PDRM),” the message claimed.

“We are also calling the international Anonymous to join us as well to give a hand to all Malaysians to show our internet warfare,” it added.

It also claims to have identified another 150 web portals which it will target within forty-eight hours of August 30 if Najib does not step down from his position.

The 8-minute video begins with an opening sequence in the trademark style of international hacking group Anonymous, with the words “We are Anonymous – We are uniting humanity – Expect Us.”

The video then features Anonymous’ now infamous hooded bulletin reader wearing a Guy Fawkes mask reading out a message to the Prime Minister in a synthesized voice.

“We are Anonymous Malaysia team. We will be cooperating with International Anonymous, Mercy group and also the citizens of Malaysia to join in the campaign of Bersih 4.0 which will be held on 29 to 30 August,” the message begins.

“At this time, we will be launching internet warfare to the Malaysian government which is believed to be the largest type of internet assault in Malaysian history ever,” the message claims. “The main purpose of this assault is to get the Malaysian Prime Minister to surrender his prime minister position and accept the collaboration RM2.6 billion corruption investigation.”

The video then goes on to list various crimes which Najib has allegedly committed.

It cites the 1MDB scandal, Najib’s receipt of the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ and various steps which were allegedly aimed at suppressing evidence of his ‘corruption’ including the sacking of Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, the issuance of an arrest warrant against Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown and the recent Bukit Aman fire.

The video message claims that Najib had orchestrated the recent Low Yat Plaza in a bid to divert public attention from his “corruption cases”.

Anonymous Malaysia also sought to link Najib to the disappearance of MH370. It also claims that Najib had secured electoral victory at the 2013 general elections through improper means.

The link to Bersih 4.0 is unfortunate, and it is expected that the organisers of the event will disclaim it shortly.

The video was shared by Tabik Polis, a Facebook page which describes itself as a staunch supporter of the police force. Tabik Polis called for the police to detect and take action against all persons behind the threat.
