Debris found on Maldives unlikely from MH370, experts say

DEBRIS being collected by residents of the Maldives is most likely to have come from a barge that capsized in February.

Barge captain, Abdulla Rasheed has told online news site Haveeru, the vessel was carrying 4000 units of mostly wall panels.

The materials were being shipped to a new resort in Raa Atoll when the barge capsized on February 10, Mr Rasheed said.

“From the pictures of the debris found on most of the islands, I can almost certainly say that they are from the cargo we were carrying,” he said.

Malaysia has formally requested the Maldives provide assistance in the search for debris from MH370 following reports of unidentified items.

Debris collected by locals is being stored in a warehouse ahead of testing by Malaysia to determine if it’s from MH370.

However experts have insisted there is no way MH370 debris could be washing up in the Maldives, if a flaperon found on Reunion Island is from the missing aircraft.
