The latest to side with the anti-graft body is Malay pressure group Perkasa, who issued a statement to question the 'hidden hands' which it said are the mastermind behind the raids and arrests of MACC officers who are probing the case.
Perkasa observation and integrity bureau secretary Azrul Akmal Sharudin said the NGO demands that the 'hidden hands' be revealed and branded enemies of the state, even if they hold high positions in the government.
“These enemies of the state need to be fought off using people power and be taught a lesson under the law, because they are trying to suppress the truth through threats and intimidation of MACC officers, so the investigators can be cowed into putting a halt to their work,” he said.
He said if the hidden hands are proven to be responsible for trying to instil fear into the MACC investigators, they need to be outed.
Azrul Akmal said the people will stand behind MACC to ensure the truth will be revealed.
“The people will continue to support MACC to investigate anyone, even if it’s the prime minister himself, if he is found to be involved in any form of graft and abuse of power," he said in a statement last night.
Perkasa also said it will be going to the MACC headquarters on Monday to send their memorandum of support to the graft fighters.
