Homemade bombs found in condo unit at Damansara Perdana

PETALING JAYA - Police found five home-made bombs at a condominium unit in Damansara Perdana here this morning. Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commisioner Mohd Zani Che Din said police special operation unit have conducted raids at the unit at 4.30am.

"We believe that two Malaysians were staying in the rental unit and they have left the building earlier. We also seized syabu and ecstasy pills in the house," he said.

Mohd Zani said the police bomb disposal squad have detonated all five bombs at a nearby quarry area around noon.

"Police also discovered coal powder in the house and several pipes believed to be used to make the bombs. "We are still tracking down the suspects and police are still investigating the case," he added.

Residents at the Metropolitan Square condominium have been evacuated since 8am this morning.

Earlier, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the department received a distress call at about 8.30am.

"We found three boxes wrapped in plastics in a condominium unit on the 17th floor. We believe they are stuffed with explosive items," he said in a statement.
