PKR warns DAP to stop its lies and attacks on Batu Kitang candidate

Fahmi Fadzil says DAP's games of instigating and attacking must stop in favour of employing the "politics of value" instead in its campaigns for the Sarawak election.
KUCHING - PKR has warned DAP, its ally in Pakatan Harapan, against launching any further attacks on the party’s Batu Kitang candidate Voon Shiak Ni even as both parties fight for the same state seat in the Sarawak polls.

PKR communication director Fahmi Fadzil ordered DAP to put an end to its games of instigating and attacking a fellow Opposition member and said, “I think we should all employ the politics of value.

“Let the people decide this weekend (May 7).”

He was responding to a Facebook comment by DAP Tanjong lawmaker Ng Wei Aik, who accused Voon of being an “opportunist.”

Defending Voon, Fahmi said, “She has a proven track record as an activist, lawyer and is well-versed in community issues in Batu Kitang.”

At a press conference, Fahmi also revealed the findings of a recent survey that reportedly showed PKR enjoying a 33% chance of winning Batu Kitang, with PBB having a 35% chance and DAP coming in last at 31%.

“This survey was conducted from April 27 to May 1, which was quiet recent.

“It is unlike the Merdeka Center survey that was done early this year, showing DAP as the more favourable choice of voters,” he claimed.

He said the survey findings were sent to him yesterday although he did not disclose more details about the survey or the identity of the researcher.

“We believe it is authentic,” Fahmi said.

Batu Kitang is a new seat carved out of the DAP-held constituencies of Kota Sentosa and Batu Kawah.

It is one of the five seats in the state election that is seeing a five-cornered fight.

Abdul Aziz Isa of DAP was fielded in Batu Kitang at the last minute after his party alleged PKR had breached an earlier agreement on seat allocation.
