Pairin's statement brash and irresponsible

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 2: The Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Rural Development Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan's recent statement that all illegal crossings along the railway track will be immediately closed is both brash and irresponsible, said Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Treasurer Dullie Hj Marie.

"Don't penalize the kampong folks for the government's faults. If the government made the initial mistake in allowing all these crossings, then why now punish the kampong folks for using these roads.

"Many are of the opinion that this project costing about RM360 million, was done hastily for the sake of doing it and without proper thought. It is impractical to have these tracks running through densely populated areas. Have they actually thought of the security aspect and impossibility of manning all crossings?" He questioned.
The Railway General Manager also made a remark that all illegal crossings will be sealed. Have they considered that is this the solution because of so many of these crossings that lead to various kampungs, workshops and so forth.

There are also private roads crossing the tracks to a number of individual houses all along from Tanjung Aru to Beaufort. It is most unfortunate most of them have been there for decades. How will the authority solve it before other incidents to happen.

Elevated railway tracks were believed to have been requested which could have stopped speeding vehicles in these crossings.

It is understood that the State government did request for "Elevated Railway" but was rejected by the federal government due to budget constraints. In this respect the Federal Government has failed to understand on the real needs of Sabahans. Besides, the most irony part that this project was awarded to Kereta Api Tanah Melayu.

  1. A reason for human beings to solve matter and try to save every life with wisdom acquired!

Can't understand why a tall and big 'billboard' so near beside the railway was not noticeable and approved!!!

Hope this is not so much about politics as big sum of $ flush down and vanish just like that!!!

And now only left 1 saja available good train to use no standby!! Do not tell us that's the whole smart plan even for the nation defence not to use railway for emergency transportation in case?

Why never think of 2+1 reserve train?
We don't blame people but those people in position to a dedicated portfolio, right?

Told that in other nation because of different price of tickets sold for public transports to local citizen and other (include PATI)is easier and simple enough to confirm the figures in case of casualty!!!We must learn a lesson with common sense.

Why we have too many 'wild' issues here even PATI boys running wild around in town or from place to place???

    Enough!!!

the more reason why budget 2012 should allocate more money into sabah's development.

  26. Gov must ensure this sort of accident will not happen again.

  27. "It is impractical to have these tracks running through densely populated areas. Have they actually thought of the security aspect and impossibility of manning all crossings?"

    ReplyDelete
  29. "The Railway General Manager also made a remark that all illegal crossings will be sealed. Have they considered that is this the solution because of so many of these crossings that lead to various kampungs, workshops and so forth."

    ReplyDelete
  30. They should prioritised "safety".

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  38. No point to pointing finger to each other as after the incident. Just improve the limitation to ensure 100% security.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think safety come first. It is good to investigate and close some of the opening if necessary.
    There is always alternative ....

    ReplyDelete
