GE13: Pakatan will have no chance to govern Sabah – Eric

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party has claimed that Pakatan Rakyat was trying to confuse the people of Sabah that they are able to form state government should they win the majority in the general election.

The party’s deputy president Datuk Eric Majimbun (picture) explained that the peninsular-based opposition pact (PR) was not a registered coalition unlike the Barisan Nasional or state opposition SAPP.

“According to state constitution, the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah will only appoint the leader of the winning registered party as a chief minister and the rest will be members of the state cabinet.

“The appointed chief minister has to be a local; therefore Pakatan will have no chance to govern the state,” he said, after delivering his speech in a campaign here on Wednesday night.

Eric was confident that neither DAP, PKR nor PAS could win majority seats on single-party basis.

When asked on SAPP’s winning chance, he commented that Pakatan Rakyat might affect their votes.

“However, people of Sabah have to know that SAPP will be fighting rights for them,” he said, adding that the party’s machinery have been going to the ground even before the campaign period started.

  1. In this case, we should vote for SAPP, the only party eligible to form the next State government.
