KOTA KINABALU - Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu has resigned as Sabah DAP advisor with effect from Monday.
In a statement, he said he had sent his resignation letter to the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
This follows his dissatisfaction over the four Sabah DAP YBs who jointly reported him to the DAP headquarters seeking disciplinary action to be taken on him for not supporting the party's stand to support Datuk Wilfred Bumburing as the opposition head in the Sabah State Assembly.
The elected state opposition YBs finally reached a decision to elect Datuk Lajim Ukin as the opposition head during a lunch meeting.
Hiew felt very disappointed and disheartened and has concluded that he is no longer needed to be the state adviser as important matters were not being brought to his notice and discussed by members before making their decision.
He said therefore his dropping the post would be the best solution and is fair to everyone.
Hiew said DAP National Adviser Lim Kit Siang, during his last visit to Sabah, had consented to his resignation.
"Now, it is only proper to make an announcement here to inform the general public."
