TAWAU - Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Pang Yuk Ming has formally announced his wish to contest for the top Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) post in the coming general meeting in October.
“I feel ready to move forward to take on a heavier role. Time to move ahead and play a more active role as a leader,” Pang, who is the current party vice president, told a press conference yesterday.
Depending on feedbacks, suggestions, and advice from the grassroots, he said he would vie for one of the two top posts, which is either the president’s or the deputy’s post.
Pang, who has been with the party for more than 20 years, said the party had given him the opportunity to grow and learn a lot in terms of leadership and values required for the top leader.
“I am also taking the PM’s advice that the era of ‘leader knows all is no more’,” he said adding that leaders should be inclusive, run by concession, and majority rules.
He said it would be an open-contest on October 19, with 32 divisions and more than 800 delegates, including women and youths.
