Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has apparently refuted claims that a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on the alleged citizenship-for-votes scam in Sabah had already been approved.
“We are considering it,” said Najib in a curt reply to a question on whether the RCI would be established after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting last night.
Najib’s response came as a surprise as high-profile Sabah BN leaders had claimed that cabinet had approved the establishment of the RCI on Feb 8.
The Sabah BN leaders had speculated that Najib would officially announce the RCI during his two-day visit to the state last week.
However, he left Sabah after a two-day visit with no mention of the RCI.
United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) secretary-general Wilfred Madius Tangau told Malaysiakini yesterday that the RCI was already in the bag and only its terms of reference remained to be ironed out.
According to him, Upko had already submitted its proposals on the terms of reference to de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz.
No need to invite Pakatan MBs and CMs
Meanwhile, Najib also brushed aside claims that he had acted unprofessionally by failing to involve Pakatan Rakyat-administered states at his meeting with menteris besar and chief ministers.
Najib said that the meeting was for coordinating activities between federal and state governments, stressing that the get-together was not a constitutional requirement.
However, he said the federal government will invite Pakatan menteris besar and chief ministers for meetings spelled out by the constitution, such as National Land Council meetings.
“They have a lot of meetings and never invite us. We never complain. They will consort among themselves. No problem. We (on the other hand) are doing coordination work,” he said.
Najib was responding to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s claim he had acted unprofessionally by leaving Pakatan-administered states out of the 114th meeting of menteris besar and chief ministers in Putrajaya.
Asked if the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal was raised at the supreme council meeting last night, Najib replied: “We did not discuss it.”

PM, why do you need to consider this RCI, that is obvious to even the blind?
ReplyDeletethe issue involves Constitution and Law. so it took a long time to consider to making any changes.
DeleteRCI investigation should be done before the 13th GE. If it takes long time to discuss about RCI, the problem will get worst.
Deletebecause all them umno supporter for sure dr m gave them ic
ReplyDeleteNi menteri2 Sabah bikin malu saja... belum kena approve pun sudah cakap approve..... ptui.... OR, UMNO sengaja mau ni menteri SABAH nampak BODOH...
DeleteHope to hear positive feedback asap.
DeleteYB2 KDM/BN hanya bersandiwara! Mereka mahu tipu rakyat supaya mengundi mereka lagi.
ReplyDeleteBodoh punya Menteri2 KDM! Go, hang yourself like Judas!
KDMs ybs are stupid! Lickers of PATIs pantat!
ReplyDeleteMusa Aman is a crook CM.
Insyallah!
All the PATI and PATAI issues should be resolved before the next general elections is held. The RCI should be one of the factors to focus on before parliament can be dissolved.
DeleteSo sad...there is no RCI!!!!! where is the 'minit mesyuarat' for formation of RCI's member???
ReplyDeletewe should wait for a few more time. hope Najib will announce it before the GE comes.
ReplyDeleteMake sure all the terms and references and time line are worked out before it was implemented to ensure that all runs smoothly during the inquiry.
DeleteRCI pasti akan diumumkan apabila terma dimuktamadkan.
Deletepasti ia tak mengambil masa lama untuk diumumkan.
DeleteDo it with transparency!
DeleteKalau nak tubuhkan RCI pun kenalah rancang sebaik mungkin supaya semuanya teratur.
DeleteNajib has made a statement that they are in the stage of finalizing the terms and conditions of the RCI implementation.
ReplyDeleteso, just wait for the outcome.
DeleteSama-sama kita nantikan apa hasilnya nanti.
DeleteRCI is expected to be announce in Parliament Conference scheduled on March 12 or as late as the end of Parliamentary sesion on 12 April.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the investigation is complete before the 13th GE.
DeleteAiks, mcm lain saja bunyi artikel ni... hhmm...
ReplyDeleteTakkan, tak ditubuhkan pula. Ini tak boleh jadi! Kesian rakyat yang mengharapkan penubuhan RCI ni. huhu
ReplyDeleteSabar. Semuanya OK juga tu nanti. Kerajaan pasti akan buat keputusan yang terbaik.
DeleteKenalah bagi masa untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini.
Deleteseems like the RCI is still under consideration.. so this is the explanation why najib did not announced about it during his 2 days visit in sabah recently..
ReplyDeleteINI KALI LAH! HIDUP SABAH!
ayuh rakyat sabah...kita halau parti malaya balik ke tanah asal mereka...SABAH bukan tanah UMNO...
The people will know who to vote when the time comes. There's no need for you to tell what the people should do.
Deletesince RCI is still under consideration, najib must not let the people wait long for his official announcement.
ReplyDeleteRCI which become hopes for all Sabahan cannot be done in hurry.. such proposal that will involve huge rakyat money should be carefully planned..
ReplyDeletestill not approving it, sigh..
ReplyDeleteKalau sudah diluluskan baguslah. Namun sekarang cuma menunggu untuk perlaksaan dibuat.
ReplyDeleteI doubt if the RCI would ever be implemented. It would involved lot of big names. . .
ReplyDeleteWe don't have much time, we need and must setting up the RCI. The PTI's Issue is not going to end....
ReplyDeleteneedless to say...all political leaders in Sabah, regardless the government or oppositions, to stop their bickerings, mudslingings, accusations and counter-accusations against one another and to put their heads together and work out a workable political solutions that would bring benefits to the people of Sabah.
ReplyDeleteSemua pemimpin Sabah tanpa mengira politik mereka harus mempunyai kepentingan 'Sabah untuk rakyat Sabah'.
ReplyDeletesurely all Sabahans want to know if the sudden increase in the Sabah population in the last decade is related to the huge number of foreigners who might have entered Sabah either legally or illegally and how they managed to obtain MyKads.
