Tengku Adnan dared to stand in Sepanggar

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 31, 2012: Umno secretary general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor was challenged to stand in Sepanggar to prove that the parliamentary seat is indeed a Barisan,Nasional (BN) stronghold.

Incumbent Sepanggar member of parliament Datuk Eric Majimbun, who issued the challenge, said that it would be a shame for Tengku Adnan as he would be contesting against a 'nobody' in the coming general election.

"Who am I? I am just a nobody while he is the Umno secretary general. I am not anti-West Malaysians but there are certain people who are just plain arrogant coming to Sabah using politics and wielding their power to display their socalled sincerity.

"I believe the people of Sabah know better. They are more mature now," said Majimbun, the deputy president of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

"Speaking to reporters at the SAPP Inanam headquarters near here, Majimbun thanked Tengku Adnan for showing the arrogant attitude of some Kuala Lumpur Umno leaders, adding that the habitual threat from the party would not hinder SAPP's continuing effort to free Sabahans from being colonised by them.

Tengku Adnan who was in Tawau to launch the Kalabakan election machinery over the weekend, had challenged the two members of parliament from SAPP - Majimbun and Tawau's Datuk Chua Soon Bui - who won the seats on the BN ticket in the last general election to resign.

He remarked that only by so doing would Chua and Majimbun know whether the people would continue to support them.

Tengku Adnan also described SAPP's action of pulling out of the BN coalition in 2008 after winning the seats as an act of betrayal against the coalition's kindred spirit and reminded the other component parties to refrain from betraying the party although beset with problems.

Majimbun said it was a crying shame for Tengku Adnan to ask Chua and him to resign their seats being fully aware that the general elections is just around the corner.

"If he (Tengku Adnan) thinks he is powerful and influential, he should have ordered the Perak government to go for by-elections when some of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) elected representatives jumped ship to become independents supporting the BN, or if he really wants to get the people's mandate, he should order the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) to dissolve Parliament to pave the way for the 13th general election,” stressed Majimbun.

  1. Lebih baik calon yang dilantik untuk setiap kawasan adalah berasal dari situ. Biar rakyat Sabah yang diberikan peluang untuk bertanding di tempat kita sendiri.

    1. That's why they go for winnable candidates. Those who are liabilities for the party and people won't be contested for this coming GE.

Seriously? of course if you ask another politician that of not from Sabah to contest in that area for sure they will not win.

    1. Indeed. It's a common sense. Any local leaders can say like that since they are likely will get support from the locals.

  5. Clearly it is getting too personnel on both sides. They as leaders ( regardless if there on the status quo or the opposition) should have exemplify a more mature standing. Exchanging mockery against each other only goes to show that they don't have the capacity nor the intelligence as well as lack of maturity.
