Star leader condemn Ewon for threatening rakyat who dislike BN

By Jalibin Paidi

RANAU : I am shocked to read YB Dr Ewon Ebin's statement today where he was reportedly to have said that he would not assist now those who support the opposition because it was not Barisan Nasional policy.

He said so in his speech made at a meet the people session at Kampung Wakaku in Paginatan near here a few days ago and carried by a local newspapers (Daily Express) today.

Ewon said: "Honestly i cannot assist those who support the opposition because i hold true to the BN government concept which is different from the opposition party's concept".

His words could be taken as a threat against the rakyat as a whole, when he knows best that no matter which party the people support, they still are bona fide citizens of Sabah and Malaysia and therefore entitled to assistance from the government.

What Ewon promoted in his speech was sheer arrogance of power and signal his paranoia of a shifting allegiance of the disenfranchised Sabahans including many Dusuns in Paginatan and Ranau.

Isn't it a practice of a civilised democracy to allow citizens freedom of expression or association with any legitimate party they believed in its struggle?

On Ewon's contention that only BN can bring development and assistance, this is a misguided belief, as anybody can work to bring development and that it is the government that are entrusted to manage the people's money and it is not BN that is the only one who can bring development.

In fact because of the growing strength of dissents and opposition in Sabah, the government tends to listen and give more development to Sabah now. If not, then BN leaders like Ewon would just take the people's support for granted.

Ewon must also be reminded that he was once in opposition PBS and he should be able to appreciate his experience with the people then and not replicate what his masters UMNO was telling him to say now.

The people are wise and need not be threatened with such arrogant words even though they are now supporters of parties other than the UMNO-led BN.

  1. Thats ok, let him continue with his threat. We'll just let him know that we will not be able to assist him when we take Sabah out of Malaya.

    1. SABAHANS - UMNO TAUGHT THE TRAITORS SUCH TRICKS OF TRADE WHEN UMNO FIRST USED THE THREAT OF FOREIGN INVASION TO PRESSURIZE & BLACKMAIL US INTO "MALAYSIA".

When we take Sabah out of Malaysia- Musa will be one of the first one to be arrested with Pairin & charged for corruption, abuse of power, grand robbery and treason.

    4. When we look at Malaysia's political history, we can conclude that it has been Barisan Nasional policy to issue racist, religious threats and infrastructure development funds and money to win votes and that's how BN stayed in power for more than 50 years.

    2. SARAWAK MINISTER JAMES MASING WARNED VOTERS "JAGAN LAWAN TAUKE (TOWKAY)"

Only a gangster like those in power threaten people with such words.

This type of towkays are headed by big brother Taib down and his gang with men like Masing betrayed his people and electorate and joined Taib, his family cronies and that class of timber tycoon originating from Sibu who all pillaged Sarawak are a criminal syndicate.

Sabah has had 14 Chinese Ministers and many of them participated in robbing the people and country. They have also become adept at threatening the people with blackmail to extract their vote while robbing them.

A new Sabah government after we get our independence from Malaya- must set up an Justice commission to investigate and bring to trial and punish all these criminals.

BN cuba mengekalkan kuasa dengan cara mengugut rakyat...jangan tuduh pembangkang hanya ingin kuasa...sedangkan wakil rakyat BN yang menerajui kerajaan menyalahgunakan kuasa untuk kepentingan diri dan bukan untuk rakyat...kalau BN tidak menginginkan kuasa barulah anda boleh menuduh pembangkang hanya inginkan kuasa...tapi mungkin BN tidak lagi menginginkan kuasa jadi...INI KALI LAH...

    2. WHO BN THAT IS IT IMMUNED FROM CRITICISMS?

Read up what UMNO & Co said and threatened the people with before & during Bersih 1, 2 & 3.

      1. Favourite threat is "you are a communist" - in the past this instantly shut people up because it was such a serious threat as you could be false accused detained and jailed without trial.

      2. "Don't start another May 13" - this threat also intimidated people from exercising one of the few avenues of democratic expression- this is to demonstrate and vote with your feet. The Bersih movement has for the moment reduced fear of this UMNO blackmail.

      3. In the past they also used the general threat of "not opposing your government" implying that we have to accept what BN dictates to us. This is playing the people's respect for authority. The above comment is in this category. But the situation has changed dramatically in Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak. The people are standing up to UMNO BN nonsense and shenanigans.

It is one of our democratic rights as citizens to criticise any gov't for not doing the right thing and not be punished for it - not like that Sarawak pensioner who was targetted for voting against the BN.

      4. A popular blackmail is to withhold development funds from poverty stricken areas. Perhaps the fact that Sabah and Sarawak have been so deprived of "development" may be de to the fact the people are against them? Other than corruption?

So why should we criticise and take action against a corrupt government?
