SAPP to hold static protest


SAPP will hold static protest to any proposed commercial development at the High Court and State Library site on 3 July 2012n (Tuesday)

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will be holding a static protest at Taman Chong Thain Vun here on Tuesday to urge the State Government to ensure the site of the High Court Building, former City State Library and City Hall office will remain for public usage once it is vacated.

SAPP Api Api CLC Chief, Datuk Wong Yit Ming in inviting members of the public to join in the static protest at 1pm on July 3 said the State Government must not turn the vacant lots adjacent to Taman Chong Thain Vun into another commercial area.

He said if the area, which is worth millions of ringgit, is used for commercial purposes it would confirm the suspicion of the people that there is ulterior motive in the earlier move to relocate the City Library to Suria Mall by declaring the building as unsafe.

He reminded that Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Dun had said before that the shifting of the library operation was to pave the way for the extension of the Kota Kinabalu High Court Complex.

"But not less than a year after that, the Chief Minister announced that the State Cabinet has already approved the shifting of the present High Court Complex to Bukit Punai," he said here Sunday.

"The separate moves by the State Government over the government buildings in prime locations raised the concern of the public especially when these lands are now so valuable" he said.

In this respect, SAPP is holding the static protest to object to any proposed commercial development in this area other than for public purposes, he said.

"We invite those who are also concern that public and government properties may be abused to come and join us in the peaceful static protest," he said.

      Demonstrasi bukanlah budaya kita dan ia tidak dapat menyelesaikan apapa masalah. Terlalu kerap berdemo juga akan hilang impak.

      Kita tidak akan mudah dipengaruh, biarlah mereka lakukan apa yang mereka suka tapi masa PRU-13, rakyat juga yang akan membuat keputusan.

    Hope that City State Library and City Hall office will remain for public usage once it is vacated, these are public areas and the people should have the access to them.

    Jarang2 nama Datuk Azizah Dun dikaitkan dengan kontrovesi. Sekarang mulalah SAPP mencari kesalahan beliau. SAPP sudah intai2 kerusi tu..
