RM40mil donation: 'Umno's explanation meaningless'
The government is once again urged to form a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the RM40 million donation to Sabah Umno.
This, according to Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) organising secretary Kalakau Untol, will be the right and proper thing for the government to do to clear the air as the RCI is the only way to identify the truths behind the much debated monetary contribution.
“This issue is being widely debated by the public. Explanation by Umno leaders no longer have any meaning,” he said.
In Aug 2008, businessman Michael Chia (right, in photo) was reportedly detained by Hong Kong officials when attempting to board a plane to Kuala Lumpur with S$16 million (RM40 million) in cash.
On October 22, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, however, stressed that Chia was never arrested in Hong Kong by the country’s graft-busting body.
However, in a statement today, Kalakau said the confession that the money was contribution to the party reflected “a form of corruption by a large organisation at the policy-level”.
“There have been many questions raised by various political leaders that have gone unanswered.
“The rakyat really want to know the truth behind the financial contribution, and the donor involved,” he added.
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has previously called on the government to form an RCI to probe allegations of the smuggling of foreign funds by Umno, especially in relation to the RM40 million ‘political contribution’.

Like it or not, the explation has already been given.
ReplyDeleteopposition allegation is meaningless.. the respected corruption fighter in the world has prove it that they allegation is meaningless..
Deleteoppposition should learn how to accept the reality.
DeleteNajib and Nazri has already explain that the money are political donations.
DeleteIf the matter is still being question, best ask ICAC to give further clarification on the matter.
ReplyDeleteI heard Rafizi will go to meet ICAC by himself. Rafizi want to be a HERO!!
DeleteDorianG.. this STUPID opposition will say it again that the ICAC clarification/explanation is meaningless..
DeleteNot too sure whether ICAC will respond any to these?
DeleteThe opposition are just exploiting this issue to further their ambition tin the looming general election.
ReplyDeleteafter RCI, maybe they will ask FBI to investigate this rm40 million.. that is how stupid opposition we have here..
DeleteThey are clinging on to this issue as if their lives depended on it.They are out of issues to bring down the status quo in a desperate attempt to capture Putrajaya cum election. PATHETIC REALLY
Deleterakyat cannot be fooled. opposition tactic is already expected.
DeleteNot only that, ghey are also using this issue to cover their own scandals. This imcludes the Talam fiacso as well as rm 3 Billion in 20 accounts under Anwar's name
ReplyDeletewhy not opposition urged the govt to form a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the Talam fiasco, Anwar account, Anwar Jet, Anwar bus and Anwar bungalow???
DeleteI'm agree with you evan. opposition misdeed also should be exposed.
DeleteThey keep raising this issue just for publicity and gain more attention from rakyats.
ReplyDeletethey keep raising this issue just to show their Stupidity..
DeleteIt is not an offense to get contribution as long as it through the right channel.
ReplyDeletejust like Pakatan Rakyat who depend so much on Soros funds, Public funds(selangor) and tabung tin milo..
Deletewe need RCI to investigate the scandal of corruption as below;
ReplyDelete1. Skandal Talamgate yang melibatkan transaksi hampir RM 1 Billion.
2.Penduduk Selangor juga berhadapan dengan krisis air yang semakin hampir, terbaru Empangan Air Sg Selangor semakin kering dan sekarang hanya mencatat jumlah simpanan air sebanyak 52%, merosot sebanyak 48%.
3. Skandal Pasir Selangor,
4. Skandal PKNS,
5. Skandal Yayasan Selangor,
6. Skandal UNISEL
7. Kecuaian pengurusan sampah di Selangor
APS = Angkatan Pengganas Sabah
APS... don't pura2 buta and pura2 pekak.. please urge the government to investigate this corruption.. clean and transparency government needed in both side.. not only in BN..
DeleteBanyaknya?
DeleteNon of the list above has valid evidence to take charge? Surprise?
Deletethis Angkatan Pengganas Sabah should also be investigated by RCI.. we need to ensure that this Pengganas never receive donations from Soros..
ReplyDeletesuch a big issue if we keep on repeatin it...
ReplyDeleteit is good for the people then, why should we make a big issue?
ReplyDeleteI am happy for the many positive proposals and views presented and support for the government on the budget apart from the raising of development andcommunity issues in their respective areas.
ReplyDelete"This shows that the BN elected representatives are sensitive to the needsof the people at the grassroots and are aware of the people's needs in their respective areas," he told reporters after the State Legislative Assembly sitting.
ReplyDeleteMusa, who is also the state finance minister, said he believed that thepeople would receive more benefits from a caring and sincere BN government.
ReplyDeleteHe said it was hoped that all elected representatives would continue to workfor and serve the people at all times and not merely during the approach ofelections
ReplyDeleteBank Negara’s forex losses in the past two years could total as high as RM30 billion, making it the biggest financial scandal in Malaysia as well as a world-class financial scandal.
ReplyDeleteSiapakah harus bertanggung jawab atas kerugian sebegini?
DeleteIn 1994, there was in fact a conspiracy of disinformation and misinformation to ‘cover up’ the real nature, cause and magnitude of Bank Negara forex losses in the past two years.
ReplyDeleteIn the special DAP motion on the Bank Negara forex losses in Parliament last April 1994, the Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim strenuously denied that Bank Negara had “speculated” or “gambled” in foreign exchange.
ReplyDeleteAnwar said that as Finance Minister, he was “fully satisfied with the reasons” goven by Tan Sri Jaffar Hussein for the Bank Negara’s forex losses.
ReplyDeleteHowever, truth cannot be concealed forever, as it would always find some way of declaring itself.
As Anwar had assured Parliament last April 1994 that he was ‘satisfied’ with Tan Sri Jaffar’s explanation for the 1992 Bank Negara forex losses, why had Tan Sri Jaffar done differently in 1993 with regard to the 1993 Bank Negara forex losses to require his resignation?
ReplyDeleteThere are two other reasons why Anwar Ibrahim must bear personal responsibility for Bank Negara’s forex losses.
ReplyDeleteAnwar Ibrahim said that he had directed Bank Negara to stop forward foreign exchange trading when he discovered its forex losses 18 months ago. If Bank Negara had followed his instructions to stop forward forex trading in 1992, then how could Bank Negara suffer RM5.7 billion losses in 1993, on top of the RM10.1 billion to RM13.1 billion losses in 1992?
DeleteFurthermore, Anwar Ibrahim had misled Parliament last July 1993 when questioned whether Bank Negara had suffered more forex losses. Anwar said that this was not true as he had been monitoring the Bank Negara’s forex dealings weekly.
ReplyDeleteAnwar will never admit his mistake or scandals.
DeleteNot only Anwar, most are the same.
DeleteIn this one short answer, Anwar Ibrahim had misled Parliament and the nation on three matters:
ReplyDelete* that by July 1993, the provision in the 1992 Bank Negara accounts for RM2.7 billion contingent liability for forward forex trading had not been confirmed;
* that Bank Negara had not suffered more forex losses; and
* that his weekly monitoring of Bank Negara’s forex dealings would prevent further colossal losses arising from Bank Negara’s forward forex trading.
Anwar’s claim that there were no new forward forex trading by Bank Negara in 1993 had been contradicted by Tan Sri Jaffar Hussein, who said in his press conference on March 31 as well in his foreword to the 1993 Bank Negara report.
ReplyDeleteClearly Datuk Seri Anwar and Tan Sri Jaffar are not telling the truth as to when Bank Negara ceased new forward forex trading.
ReplyDeleteAnwar's scandal was much much worst than this RM40 mil saga!
ReplyDeleteOpposition keep very quite on their scandals
DeleteTuduhan harus ada bukti. Jangan pula membuat fitnah.
DeleteOn October 22, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, however, stressed that Chia was never arrested in Hong Kong by the country’s graft-busting body.
ReplyDeletePeople, do u belive on oppositions?
ReplyDeletesee and read these:
1) “scandal involving RM1bil worth of wheeling and dealing”.by: Datuk Chua Tee Yong
2)“As Pakatan Rakyat claims to champion transparency, I challenge them to disclose details of the transactions,” said Chua,
ReplyDeleteI don't think opposition Pakatan Rakyat dare to disclose their details of the transactions
DeleteTransparent indeed good, but, who dare to do so?
DeleteChua, who is an accountant and former chief financial officer of a government-linked company, said: “I will disclose more details so that the rakyat can judge if Pakatan Rakyat walks the talk, or merely makes empty promises.”
ReplyDeleteSelangor Barisan Nasional coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed said Pakatan should explain to the people why assets belonging to government-linked companies had shrunk.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile Gagasan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) president Hamizun Kamaruddin said he would also reveal hanky-panky involving the state government from time to time.
ReplyDeleteHamizun also questioned the de-listing of Worldwide Holdings Bhd, a real estate company in which the state government had the majority stake, two years ago.
ReplyDeleteHe also called for thorough investigations into the sale of assets belonging to Yayasan Selangor, PKNS, Permodalan Negri Selangor Bhd and KDEB. – Asia One

ReplyDeleteopposition will always double stranded
DeleteThe case closed and had been discuss among particular group, especially the opposition to get more people attract to them.
ReplyDeleteThe government has never neglected people from the low income group, particularly those in the rural areas, as it wanted all Malaysians to enjoy the fruits of mainstream development.

DeleteBatu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang said provisions in Budget 2013, BR1M 2.0, Kedai Rakyat Malaysia (KR1M), and 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) were among the many examples highlighting the BN government’s caring attitude.
“The Budget showed that the BN government is very caring and very concerned about the people’s welfare.

Delete“Thus, the people should not only continue to support the government but should also work closely among themselves for greater prosperity, unity, and stability.”
Paulus said this at the recent Kampong Medait’s Village Security and Development Committee’s Day.

DeleteAmong those present were his wife Dayang Luyang and community leaders Temenggong Wilfred Yussin, Pemanca Nicholas Buyok Pura, Penghulu Abdullah Osman, and Kampung Medait village headman, Ibrahim Raman.
DeleteTo the JKKK members, Paulus urged them to continue to play their roles effectively in assisting the government to implement its policies and programmes.
Delete“JKKK should go to the ground to explain to the people the government’s policies and programmes so that they have a better understanding of the government’s aspirations for the rakyat.”
DeleteAt the function, he announced a RM3,000 grant for JKKK Medait, and handed over welfare assistance to 21 recipients.
Earlier, JKKK Medait secretary Narawi Aba said the committee had implemented various programmes thus far this year.
DeleteAmong them are ‘gotong-royong’, flag raising ceremony during Merdeka Month, futsal competition, and a health talk.
