Ng Advantage Director faces more Money Laundering Charges

KUALA LUMPUR - A company director linked to the gold investment company Genneva (M) Sdn Bhd pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here Tuesday to 82 counts of money laundering involving RM931 million.

Ng Wan Yean, 29, a director of Ng Advantage Sdn Bhd, is accused of accepting RM931.7 million in illegal proceeds through 82 CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad cheques belonging to Genneva into her company's account at RHB Bank Berhad.

She allegedly committed the offences at the Jalan Tun H.S.Lee branch of RHB Bank Berhad near here between Jan 2011 and Aug 2012.

Ng was charged under Section 4(1)(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 which is punishable by up to RM5 million or maximum five years prison or both, upon conviction.

Yesterday, Ng faced 19 counts of money laundering amounting to RM1.1 million, at the Shah Alam Sessions Court.

Earlier in the proceedings, Bank Negara deputy public prosecutor Mardziatun Nisa Ahamadul Kaber did not offer any bail but proposed a sum of RM1 million with one surety and for the accused's passport to be compounded, if the court chose to do so.

However, Ng's counsel A.S. Dhaliwal applied for a lesser bail on the basis that his client had paid RM80,000 for the Shah Alam case and her passport had been impounded there.

Judge Mat Ghani Abdullah set bail at RM50,000 with one surety for all the counts and ordered the Shah Alam case to be tried with today's case.

He also allowed Ng to be jointly tried with the other accused who faced the same charges in Shah Alam.

The court fixed Nov 27 for case management.

On Sept 30, five individuals including Ng's brother and sister, and a company were charged with 277 counts of money laundering involving more than RM937 million.

On Sept 27, six individuals, including Genneva director Datuk Philip Lim Jit Meng and two other directors from Genneva and Success Attitude Sdn Bhd, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court to 913 counts of money laundering and 10 counts of illegal deposit-taking amounting to almost RM5.5 billion, two years ago.
