KOTA BARU - The state assembly's special sitting scheduled for Monday, to pave the way for the enforcement of hudud laws in Kelantan, has been postponed due to the worsening flood situation.
Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yaakob, who announced this Saturday, said almost all state assemblymen were now busy assisting their constituents in their respective areas.
He also declared Sunday a special holiday.
On Wednesday, Ahmad quashed rumours that the sitting had been postponed due to the critical flood situation.
The meeting is to discuss amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 which, if approved, would then be inserted into two private member's Bills that will be tabled in Parliament by a PAS MP.
