Who are the three Tanduo plotters, Zahid? - Yong

KOTA KINABALU - Where are the three alleged local plotters behind the Tanduo incursion by Sulu attackers in Lahad Datu in 2013?

This question was posed by former Chief Minister Datuk Yong Teck Lee, who reminded deputy prime minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, that he has yet to name the three (Sabah) opposition leaders whom he had publicly alleged to be conspirators of the incursion.

This comes in the wake of yet another allegation by Zahid, who is also Home Minister, that he was aware of an Umno leader who was plotting to topple the BN government.

Yong, the Sabah Progressive Party president, said it seemed that Zahid had a tendency to announce exposes, but had always failed to provide with the follow-up.

“He should first fulfill his promise to disclose the names of the three Sabah politicians whom he alleged were behind the (Tanduo) incursion,” Yong said in a statement Tuesday.

Yong claimed the startling revelation by Zahid who was then Defence Minister, had stirred chaos and the climate of mutual suspicions as the people eyed opposition leaders with suspicion.

Yong said Zahid’s expose on Saturday was reminiscent of another of his disclosures in 2013 that he would reveal the identity of three opposition leaders allegedly behind the February 2013 Sulu incursion.

“Till now we are waiting; till now the people of Malaysia, Sabah especially want to hear from Zahid who the three politicians he was referring to,” he added.

Zahid had on April 27, that year, on the eve of early polling by security personnel during the last general elections, alleged that he had evidence of three opposition leaders, one of whom he said is from Sabah, being behind the 2013 Sulu Intrusion.

He (Zahid) had also said that action would only be taken against the three opposition leaders after the general election, Yong recalled.

Yong said failing to name the three would undermine the credibility-deficit of the Barisan Nasional administration further.

“Zahid seems to be very find of making ridiculous claims, and then coming up short when he has to really name them,” added Yong.

While Zahid has never mentioned the Tanduo plotters since he first made the allegation, he however clarified Tuesday that the meeting between Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and a senior BN leader was cancelled upon request by the “plotter”.

Zahid said he expected a new date for the meeting to be set later.

"No reason was given but the person was probably informed of the huge media presence at the Prime Minister's residence," Dr Ahmad Zahid said after chairing the Cabinet committee on foreign workers here on Tuesday.

He also said that he had given police the relevant information regarding the plot to topple the government.
