KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) said they would continue to call Putrajaya to reopen the case of the Sabah Air Nomad aircraft that crashed off Sembulan waters, here, on June 6, 1976 which killed the then Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens and 10 others so that Sabah people would know the truth behind the tragedy that known as the Double Six.

SAPP Supreme Council Member Bahari Aship said the High Court here in its judgement in the defamation suit filed by former Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Salleh against SAPP and its President Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee, has said that there was nothing wrong for Yong to call for re-investigation of the tragedy.

Yong says to appeal

KOTA KINABALU: Yong said they would appeal against the High Court decision.

"This case will strengthen our fighting spirit. We will continue our struggle for Sabah," he said, to applause from about 300 party members and supporters, who patiently waited for the decision.

They then moved to the Datuk Chong Thien Vun Park opposite the courthouse where Yong addressed to the group and thanked all his witnesses before ending the session with the State anthem.

Real cause of air crash never known - Yong

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee told the High Court here yesterday that he was only asking the relevant authorities to re-open the air crash tragedy file and re-investigate as the formal investigation report and the real cause of the air crash has never made known to the public.

Yong, 53, said that in his press statements, he had never even once made any reference to the plaintiff Tan Sri Harris Salleh as he alleged.

Air crash more than historical event

KOTA KINABALU: United Borneo Front (UBF) chairman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan told the court that the air crash on June 6, 1976 that killed former Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens and all 10 others on board a Nomad aircraft is more than a historical event.

Jeffrey, 63, said it was a tragedy of huge proportions not only affecting the families of the crash victims but also affecting the State and the future of its people.

Ex-minister supports re-investigation into air crash

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 6, 2011: A former state minister told the High Court here that he would certainly support a call for a re-investigation into the plane crash of June 6, 1976 that killed former Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens and all 10 others on board, including his loving brother Datuk Peter Mojuntin.

Datuk Conrad Mojuntin said by doing so, the incident would be put to rest and all those people who had unfortunately died in the air crash would be able to rest in peace.

"I myself would also be able to heal the grievous wound in my heart caused by the death of my loving brother Peter," Conrad said during examination-in-chief by counsel Datuk Simon Shim.

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 24, 2011: Former SUHAKAM vice chairman Tan Sri Simon Sipaun is of the view that the new fact revealed by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah pertaining to the Double Six air crash, merits an investigation.

He told the High Court on Tuesday that based on the new fact he felt a re-investigation would help to determine the truth behind the tragedy.

Call to reopen probe not politically motivated

KOTA KINABALU: Former Finance Minister Datuk Haji Mohammad Noor Mohammad Mansoor told the High Court here yesterday that the call for re-investigation into the plane crash that killed former chief minister Tun Fuad Stephens and all 10 others on board the Nomad aircraft onJune 6, 1976 was not politically motivated.

Mohammad Noor, who held the post during the Berjaya government, said the family members of those leaders who perished in the air crash have their right to say what they wanted to say and to do what they wanted to do but there are one or two million of Sabahans, including himself, who wanted to know what really happened on that day.

KOTA KINABALU: A case also known as Double Six Tragedy entered the third day today at the High Court of Kota Kinabalu between the plaintiff Tan Sri Harris Salleh and defendant Datuk Yong Teck Lee.

Harris sued Yong Teck Lee for defamation for RM50 million for highlighting that the case should be reopen for investigation after Tengku Razaliegh Hamzah publically said in his talks at Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association on April2, 2010 in Kota Kinabalu.

KOTA KINABALU: There was absolutely nothing wrong for a re-investigation into the plane crash that killed former Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens and all 10 others on board a Nomad aircraft on June 6, 1976, to be conducted, the High Court here yesterday heard.

KOTA KINABALU: Today is June 6, the day newly appointed Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens and four state ministers were killed in a 1976 plane crash while returning from Labuan after negotiating Sabah’s oil and gas rights.

By a quirk of fate today too the High Court here had its first hearing of a defamation suit involving two former Sabah Chief Ministers over the plane crash.
