Climber saw "dark figure" before going missing for four days

GUA MUSANG - A 37-year-old climber who went missing for four days after taking part in an expedition to climb Chamah mountain, was found alive yesterday.

Sandra Loy Siew Ling of Batu Pahat, Johor, was found in a weak condition by several Orang Asli about 2pm. The woman, who suffered injuries on her hand and legs, was later brought to Gua Musang hospital using a helicopter.

Sandra and nine other climbers were heading down from the mountain when she went missing about 11.30am on Sunday. Realising that the victim had gone missing, the group led by Lim Che Liang, 64, then lodged a police report.

Gua Musang police chief Superintendent Saiful Bahri Abdullah confirmed the report was lodged about 2.30pm yesterday (Nov 10) at the district station.

He advised climbers to halt all activities due to unstable weather.

It is learnt that police has not been informed about the expedition organised by Lim who claimed this was his second expedition to the mountain.

Meanwhile, Sandra said she was grateful that she was saved by the Orang Asli.

Recalling the incident, Sandra said she was walking at the back of the group when suddenly she saw a dark object resembling a human’s figure passing in front her. Moments later, she lost track of the group.

“I climbed back the mountain because l could not see my friend's track and the way back to our camp. I took shelter under a big tree and drank water from a nearby river to survive.

"When l woke up the next day, l went down from the mountain and luckily, l saw a four-wheel-drive vehicle passing by stopped it," said Sandra.
