Six cars ablaze at Taman Jaya LRT station

PETALING JAYA - Two cars were destroyed while four others badly damaged in a blaze at the Taman Jaya LRT station, here, earlier today.

The 12.30pm incident, which happened at the carpark area, saw six firemen with a fire engine from the Jalan Penchala Fire and Rescue Station despatched to the scene.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the incident involved a Toyota Vios, Proton Wira, Suzuki Swift, Proton Saga BLM, Proton Gen2 and a Honda. The Vios and Wira were totally destroyed.

He said the department received a call on the incident at 12.58pm. The firemen managed to put out the blaze at 1.32pm. Meanwhile, initial information suggested arson as a possible cause.

However, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said they have yet to verify the information. Investigations on the blaze are being conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department's Forensics Unit and police.
