Police to seek extradition of businessman in Hussain Najadi murder

KUALA LUMPUR - The businessman who is believed to have ordered a hit on Arab Malaysian Development Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi has been identified.

Kuala Lumpur police chief SDCP Datuk Mohmad Salleh said Lim Yuen Soo (pix), 53, failed to surrender after being given a week to do so. As such, police will alert Interpol to track him in Australia where he is believed to be.

“We will seek assistance from our Australian counterparts for his extradition. Lim is a close friend and employer of the gunman who was charged in court last week with murdering Hussain.

“Lim owns several entertainment outlets and is involved in the car park business,” he told at a press conference at the city police headquarters where he released the businessman’s photo.

Mohmad urged those with information on Lim (MyKad No. 600921-10-6193), whose last known address was No. 9, Jalan Bayu Segar 3, Bayu Segar Cheras, 56100 Kuala Lumpur, to contact the city police hotline at 03-2115 9999.

“We are still scouring a lake at the Mines City Resort for a pistol that was used to kill the victim. It is not an easy task to look for a small item such as a pistol in a huge lake,” he added.

Lim was said to have fled to Australia where his children are studying just three days after the 75-year-old banker, an Iranian, and his female companion, Chong Mei Kuen, 49, were shot by a gunman at the compound of a Chinese temple in Lorong Ceylon on July 29.

Hussain was killed on the spot while Chong suffered two gunshot wounds.

Hussain and Chong had met with a prospective buyer to oversee the sale of the plot of land belonging to the temple prior to the shooting.

So far, three people, namely an alleged gunman, a taxi driver who aided his escape and another accomplice have been charged in court in connection with the murder.
